Steamed Food Diary #1 Salted Fish Minced Meat

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Minced pork or beef
  • 1 tbsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Sesame sauce
  • 1.5 tsp huadiao wine (Chinese cooking wine)
  • 1 tsp corn flour
  • 1 tbsp. salted fish (diced into small bits)
  • 2 water chestnuts (cut into coarse bits)
  • 3-4 prawns finely chopped up into almost paste like
  • 1 egg
  • dash of pepper

Cooking

  1. Mix all ingredients together (no issue which ingredient goes first) and let it marinade (overnight in fridge or at least few hours).
  2. Once everything is combined into the meat, take the meat and slam it into the bowl (yes, literally slam) many many times. Doing this will help to tenderize the meat and make it hold well together.
  3. I like to brush my plate with sesame oil before I put the meat on. Spread the meat on a shallow dish.
  4. Steam for 7-8 minutes. If you have a larger or thicker portion of meat, you can steam it a little longer but not more than 10 minutes, else the meat will not be tender.
  5. Garnish with spring onions.

Steamed Food Diary

I’ve been in love with my Tefal FOOD steamer (yes I love my garment steamer too, but this takes the pie cos you know I have a good relationship with food).

For obvious reasons, this steamer takes the trouble out of cooking. No more major cleaning up, no more splattering of oil, and I can make up to 3 dishes in one go. And do I really need to tell you how steaming does not even require much oil or salt and it is one of the best methods at retaining the nutrients in food well.

I am creating new recipes for anyone who is keen to lead a healthier lifestyle, without compromising the taste.

Stay tuned to my Steamed food diary!
